God's Poem
August 11, 2010 - Pastor Todd Tjepkema
Recently I started reading Herbert Lockyer's book All the Divine Names and Titles in the Bible. I was amazed by how many different names and titles there were. I suppose it shouldn't be a big surprise that nearly every word describes God. Read more...

Prayer Part 3: Submission
July 22, 2010 - Pastor Bryan Miller
After we have recognized who God is through worship, the next logical step is to bow the knee in submission to His authority. "Lord, let your kingdom, your rule, your reign, your precepts, your system, your way of doing things come. Lord, let your will--your desires be done." Read more...

Prayer Part 2: Worship
June 28, 2010 - Pastor Bryan Miller

Prayer is one of the most important elements of our Christian life. It is the way we commune with our creator, seek forgiveness for sins, plead for help, ask that our needs be met, and align our hearts with God. Read more...

Fruit Happens
June 4, 2010 - Pastor Todd Tjepkema
To counteract the despair of the world, I think I am going to make up a new bumper sticker: "Fruit Happens." Sometimes as a counselor your best personal advice comes from yourself. Read more...

Plenty Good Room
August 25, 2009 - Pastor David Stertzbach II
The French are famous for their laissez faire attitudes. While it's not fair to generalize an entire nation, the phrase laissez faire is, after all, French. It means "let it to be" or let it be what it is. Read more...

Teach Them Diligently
August 5, 2009 - Pastor David Stertzbach II

A New Blasphemy
June 26, 2009 - Pastor Michael D. Sproul
Recently I was watching an old rerun of the Brady Bunch on TVLand. I really wasn't paying attention until one of the kids got hurt and said "rats". I was struck by how foreign that expression would be today in the media industry. Read more...

History, Ignorance, or Racism?
June 10, 2009 - Pastor David Stertzbach II

While most Christians have the Lord's Prayer memorized, few have taken the time to understand it, and fewer still actually pray this way. Read more...

Musical Numbers
April 14, 2009 - Pastor David Stertzbach II
I am the first to admit that I am not a "numbers guy." My standard joke is, "Hey. I'm a musician. Anything above the number six, and I have to subdivide." But I know that some of you understand and connect to numbers. While art is by and large unquantifiable, let me attach some numbers--and maybe for some of you, some significance--to the musical aspect of a church service. Read more...

Avoiding the Ditches of Extremes
April 2, 2009 - Pastor David Stertzbach II
I read recently that Blaise Pascal (French mathematician, philosopher and physicist, 1623-1662) never said that there is a "God-shaped vacuum" in all of us. What Pascal really said was that we all have an innate desire to seek happiness: "All men seek happiness. This is without exception. Whatever different means they employ, they all tend to this end." Read more...

Confrontation: A Good or Bad Thing?
February 19, 2009 - Pastor Chris Koehn
Tug-of-war is just one of those games that you have to put your all into if you want to gain any ground. You know, confrontation is just like the game of tug-of-war: two or more people are needed to play the game, and there needs to be movement in opposite directions. Read more...

Lessons From a Jiffy Lube
November 5, 2008 - Pastor Mark Maxwell
I was getting my oil changed a few weeks ago and noticed an article on the wall from USA Today. It was about how to get better gas mileage. Ministry on a Secular University Campus
October 13, 2008 - Pastor Chris Koehn

Holidays, Holy Days or Hectic Days
July 12, 2007 - Pastor David Stertzbach II
It's that most wonderful time of year when my mind is filled with thoughts of. . . . Christmas? Yes, Christmas.
