Ways a Father Can Help His Children to Christlikeness
June 5, 2008 - Pastor Michael D. Sproul
- By making God the central focus of his life
- By loving their mother as Christ loves the Church
- By always remembering the incredible power for good or ill in the word, action, and touch of a father, no matter the age of the child
- By asking for forgiveness for specific actions and attitudes when wrong, without a "but" at the end of the apology
- By understanding the unique nature of each child to give and receive love and communicating your love in a language they understand
- By understanding that your children and their temperaments are God’s unique gift to you so that you can help them on their journey to Christ-likeness
- By reading the Bible and praying with them
- By recognizing the uniqueness of each child when engaging in discipline
- By never engaging in discipline when angry
- By being consistent in discipline
- By explaining what you believe and, more importantly, why you believe it, then living out your professed beliefs
- By always thinking of your family first and not yourself, just as Christ put His Church’s needs above His own

About Pastors' Posts
The pastors of Tri-City Baptist Church have a wide variety of experience and education. This variety brings a richness to our ministry. Our pastors will post articles on topics near and dear to them. Every few days there will be a new article. Feel free to communicate with the author with any comments or questions. Part of Tri-City's mission is "to assist its members and other fundamental churches...in fulfilling the Great Commission." That is the purpose of this site. It is tied directly to our vision for our ministry. We trust it will be a blessing to you.
