Ways Children Can Obey and Honor Their Parents
May 7, 2008 - Pastor Michael D. Sproul
- By listening with an ear, heart, and hands to not only do what your parents ask, but also what they desire
- By keeping a sweet spirit when your parents fail, knowing that you, too, will be a parent and fail at times
- By seeking your parents' counsel when making decisions that will affect your whole family
- By making God the priority of your life
- By sincere obedience, not just when your parents are watching you, knowing that your Father in heaven is always watching
- By holding yourself to the same standard of perfection that you hold your parents to
- By referring to your parents, both in word and deed, with the respect that the Bible gives them and that they have earned by giving you thousands of dollars through your lifetime
- By coming to your parents with a teachable spirit that seeks to better understand, when you disagree with your parents' decision
- By truly internalizing that your parents deeply love you and wish to keep you from tragic situations experienced in their past, and those that they have witnessed in the lives of others
- By remembering that even when you leave your parents' home, you are still to give great weight to what they say to you
- By having a thankful spirit for the great sacrifices your parents make for you that you will never understand until you have your own children
- By asking forgiveness, for a specific action or attitude, when wrong without leaving a “but” at the end of the apology

About Pastors' Posts
The pastors of Tri-City Baptist Church have a wide variety of experience and education. This variety brings a richness to our ministry. Our pastors will post articles on topics near and dear to them. Every few days there will be a new article. Feel free to communicate with the author with any comments or questions. Part of Tri-City's mission is "to assist its members and other fundamental churches...in fulfilling the Great Commission." That is the purpose of this site. It is tied directly to our vision for our ministry. We trust it will be a blessing to you.
