IBC Ministry Team Trip - May 13-June 1, 2008 The International Baptist College Ministry Team serves local churches around the West by effectively communicating God's Word and principles, by doing acts of service, and by presenting a place of training for God's service. The 2007-2008 International Baptist College Ministry Team members are Eva Nicodemus, Katie Carlisle, Daniel Bushey and Daniel Kelting. During their summer trip they traveled with Pastor Torrey Jaspers and his family to Colorado, Utah, and Wyoming. This year’s program, Redeeming Love, is based on 1 John 4:9 and consists of special music along with Scripture reading. Week TwoSunday, May 18, 2008
This morning we presented our scripture recitation and song in a service for the first time. After lunch, we traveled to Delta, Colorado for the evening service at Garnet Mesa Baptist Church with Pastor Dick Neil. The program went well; afterwards several people mentioned that the Scriptures had blessed them. So God worked here tonight, as He does every night, though we don't always pay attention. Pastor Torrey spoke on four different values a Christian needs to have based on I Corinthians 6:19-20. He used the illustration of a man who bought a house. One day the former owner walked in and started tearing down part of a wall so he could put in a door. But the former owner had no right to be in the house or tear a wall down or work on it in any way he wanted to! It was now the new owner's home. He owned it, he controlled it. In the same way Christ has bought us for a great price, and now we do not have the right to try to take control again and do what we want to do. Monday, May 19, 2008
We left Delta around 8:30 a.m., stopped for half an hour at the Dinosaur National Monument in Utah, and arrived at Red Cliff Bible Camp in Pinedale, Wyoming at 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 20, 2008
This morning we assembled a mailing for the camp, assembled some of the camp booklets, and Katie worked on redesigning the staff notebook cover. The afternoon was spent preparing for the evening's youth rally, which went well. Everyone had fun with the games, Pastor Torrey gave a powerful message, and afterward ice cream was served. Wednesday, May 21, 2008
There was a thunderstorm last night! We left Pinedale at about 9:00 a.m. and headed south towards Salt Lake City. After visiting Walmart and Starbucks, we did laundry, then had the evening off for some much needed rest and relaxation. Thursday, May 22, 2008
We left around 11:00 a.m. for Riverton, which is a suburb of Salt Lake City. This was our longest stay at any one place throughout the whole trip. Trinity Baptist Church had their mid-week service today, so we joined in the Bible study, and Daniel Bushey helped with the teens. Friday, May 23, 2008
We were able to sleep in! After lunch at the church, Pastor Lloyd Larkin and Associate Pastor John Maxwell went through a presentation on Mormon culture and the history of Trinity Baptist Church. Then we helped Pastor Maxwell move furniture for a yard sale the church ladies are hosting tomorrow. Saturday, May 24, 2008
Eva and Katie got up early to help with the yard sale. Their Spanish skills came in handy with many of the customers. About 10 kids came to the evening youth rally, and one raised their hand for assurance of salvation! |
