September 11 Commemoration - September 11, 2011

On the tenth anniversary of the tragic attacks on September 11, 2001, Tri-City Baptist Church had a special morning service that honored the victims. The choir sang “Prayer for Our Time” as a video played showing pictures from that day. Johnny Baltz, Pastor Mike Sproul’s Chaplain Assistant, sang a solo in his dress uniform, accompanied by Debbie Baltz on the violin. During the sermon, “Standing in the Presence of Heroes,” Pastor Mike showed the video “In My Seat” which tells the story of Steve Scheibner, the pilot who was scheduled to fly Flight 11 that hit the first Trade Center tower. In the video, Steve gives a clear presentation of the gospel, showing how Christ took his place on the cross just as someone took his seat in the plane. The service ended with Amanda Block and Heidi Will playing a piano/violin duet called “In Memory” which Amanda wrote and arranged in memory of those who lost their lives on that fateful day, and to give hope to those left behind.
