TCA Spring Concert - April 17, 2009

The church auditorium was filled with the sound of music as Tri-City Christian Academy produced its bi-annual Spring Concert on Friday, April 17 at 7:00 p.m. Despite the impression that might have been given by the funky retro posters that announced this year's production, the concert featured no go-go boots or disco balls—just great music. The concert was staged in pedagogical sequence, showing the educational milestones of a TCA music student (so, for example, the charming fourth grade recorders were immediately followed by the confident fifth grade band). Highlights of the evening included the junior high guys' audience-pleasing African game song, the high school band's polished rendition of In Times of Triumph, and a comic 16th century madrigal by the high school choir. Pastor Stertzbach emceed the evening, sharing insights into the music education process and educating the audience about the music they were hearing. The overwhelmingly positive response from the audience proves, once again, that the more we know about the music we are experiencing, the more we enjoy it.
