Small Groups
Tri-City Baptist Church utilizes a small group ministry for four primary reasons:
Accountability, Assimilation, Application, and Leadership Development.
In a larger church it is easy for people to slip through the cracks and never "truly know or be known."
In the small group environment the questions asked and discussion held encourage one to really "care and share."
Thus, be truly accountable.
As a church that is a bit larger than average as well as existing in the highly transient environment of Phoenix,
assimilating new people is a major part of what we do.
Consequently, small groups help build those "family relationships" that every body of believers should naturally possess.
Ministry takes place in this environment as people are involved in the actual lives of other people.
Tri-City Baptist believes that obedience to God is a lifestyle.
We want to truly apply the Bible to our daily life.
Therefore, all of the small group lessons are built off of Pastor Mike's Sunday sermon with an emphasis on applying the sermon to our lives rather than just listening and leaving unchanged.
They are written in a "what," "why," "how" format that encourages discussion and application.
Our church also believes in rearing a new generation of believers who will only glory in the cross of Christ.
Small groups are a tremendous vehicle for leadership development.
A believer can be given responsibility for a facet of the evening and can then be critiqued by the mentor on the protege's skill and qualities in leading.
This is the example of our Lord in sending out His disciples and then critiquing their work (Mark 9).
