Spring Concert - April 8, 2011
At 7:00 p.m. on April 8, friends and family of Tri-City Christian Academy students gathered in the auditorium to enjoy a patriotic spring program. Students from all grades of the Academy performed songs that spanned the history of the United States.
Before the concert started, there was a recital in the lobby. Performing were several groups that played at the Christian Schools of Arizona Fine Arts Festival last month. These groups were going to the national competition at Bob Jones University and took the time before the concert to perform again.
The concert opened with a rousing rendition of Sousa's "Stars and Stripes Forever" and was followed by an arrangement of "The Star-Spangled Banner" sung by the junior and senior high choirs. The songs were grouped according to their historical period and ranged from the Revolutionary War to modern times. There were hymns and marches including "The Blue and the Gray," a medley of songs popular during the Civil War. Brett Larsen performed a declamation entitled "The Death of Captain Wakow." The concluding song of the evening ("The Grumbly Old Bear") featured Jonathan Eberle on the tuba.
The concert was a good reminder of the blessings that we have as Americans and the sacrifices that have been made to secure our freedom. It also showed what is being accomplished in the music program at the Academy and gave families a chance to spend time together.Click here to view more photos.
