Band Camp - June 15-19, 2009
Young musicians grew musically and spiritually at Tri-City Christian Academy's second Band Camp, held June 15-29, 2009. More campers came (69) and more schools (9) were represented. The effects of last year's Band Camp were apparent—from the very first note guest conductor Dr. Monty Budahl noticed marked improvement from last year.
Campers learned from eight instrumental specialists who not only pushed them musically, but also encouraged them to use their talents for the Lord. Pastor Mark Maxwell and Justin Howe challenged campers spiritually with daily chapel messages. Campers performed two concerts; one at Heritage Bay Retirement Living and one at Tri-City Baptist Church. All non-beginning instrumentalists were able to perform in an ensemble and this year's beginning band, made up of campers who hadn't touched a band instrument before Band Camp, pulled off a rousing rendition of Old MacDonald Had a Band. Campers also received choir training, and this year's added treble choir for campers whose voices haven't changed was a huge success.
