Bi 501 New Testament Introduction

three hours

A study of the canonicity, text, and literary composition of the New Testament, including authorship, historical background, and content of each book.

Bi 512 Advanced Hermeneutics

three hours

An advanced study of the principles and practices of accurate biblical interpretation including an evaluation of various hermeneutical methods.

Bi 521 Old Testament Introduction

three hours

A study of the canon, text, authorship, and literary composition of the Old Testament including an introduction of Old Testament textual criticism.

FL 500 A and B Intermediate Greek

(Prerequisite: FL 200 A and B. Same as FL 300 A and B)

six hours

A review and study of the grammatical forms and an emphasis upon grammar and interpretation. Selected passages of the Greek New Testament will be read and analyzed with special attention given to irregular verbs, uses of participles, and infinitives.

FL 501 Luke in Greek

(Prerequisite: FL 500 A and B)

three hours

The translation and exegesis of the gospel of Luke with special emphasis upon developing expository messages from the book. Attention will be given to advanced points of Greek grammar as well as proper methodology for word studies.

FL 502 Peter and James in Greek

(Prerequisite: FL 500 A and B)

three hours

The translation and exegesis of the epistles of Peter and James with special emphasis upon developing expository messages from the books. Attention will be given to advanced points of Greek grammar as well as the proper methodology for word studies.

FL 503 II Corinthians in Greek

(Prerequisite: FL 500 A and B)

three hours

The translation and exegesis of Paul’s second epistle to the Corinthians with special emphasis upon developing expository messages from the book. Attention will be given to advanced points of Greek grammar and the proper methodology for word studies.

FL 505 Romans in Greek

(Prerequisite: FL 500 A and B)

three hours

The translation and exegesis of Romans with special emphasis upon developing expository messages from the book. Attention will be given to advanced points of Greek grammar and the proper methodology for word studies.

FL 511, 512 Elementary Hebrew

six hours

A beginning course in biblical Hebrew including the fundamentals of grammar and syntax and some translation work in the Hebrew Old Testament.

Th 501 New Testament Theology

three hours

A study of the history and methods of biblical theology as applied to the New Testament. The course will examine the theology of various writers of the New Testament.

Th 502 Old Testament Theology

three hours

A study of the history and methods of biblical theology as applied to the Old Testament: the theology of specific Old Testament subjects, specific Old Testament books, and the unifying theme of the entire Old Testament.

Th 511 Historical Theology I

two hours

A study of the history of Christian doctrine from the apostolic church fathers to pre-Reformation era. Special attention will be given to history’s practical importance to the church today.

Th 512 Historical Theology II

two hours

A study of the history of Christian doctrine from the Reformation to the present. Special attention will be given to the confusing theological scene that faces the church at the beginning of the 21st century.

Th 624 Christian Apologetics

two hours

A survey of several approaches to apologetics and instruction in the practice of apologetics, articulating the Christian replies to various challenges to the faith.

Th 644 Worship and the Church

two hours

The examination of a biblical and theological approach to contemporary worship from a conservative, baptistic perspective with attention given both to the theology of worship as articulated in the Old and New Testaments and to the implementation, evaluation, and analysis of biblical principles within the local church.
