Course numbers consist of two letters and three digits. The first digit indicates the year; the last two digits indicate the course sequence. Freshmen normally take 100 courses; sophomores, 200 as well as 100 courses; juniors, 300 as well as 200 courses, and seniors, 400 as well as 300 courses. The student’s advisor must authorize exceptions to this pattern. In no case can a student take upper-division courses with more than nine hours of lower-division required courses incomplete.
