Bi 704 Biblical Geography

two hours

A doctoral study of the geography of the east and west Jordan regions highlighting areas of biblical interest with an overview of the geographical zones of these regions along with an understanding of the major cities and events of the areas and other Bible lands, such as Egypt, Mesopotamia, Anatolia, and Syria.

Bi 712 Advanced Hermeneutics

two hours

A doctoral level study of the principles and practices of accurate biblical interpretation including an evaluation of various hermeneutical methods.

Bi 814 Discourse Analysis

two hours

A doctoral level study of methods for analyzing the discourse of Scripture to trace the structure of the arguments with instruction given for producing expository and homiletical outlines of biblical passages.

Bi 824 Ephesians

two hours

A doctoral level study of the doctrine and duty of the church, designed to reveal the mystery of the church that Paul set forth with an emphasis on developing messages true to the text.

CG 754 Church Growth

two hours

A doctoral level study to enable the student to understand the relevant biblical passages on the manner, power, and practice of the early church, as well as the practical outworking of these texts in a modern context. The doctoral level student will also do an analysis of his own church ministry in the light of this study.

En 720 Research and Writing

two hours

A course preparing students to conduct upper-level graduate research and to write effectively giving the proper foundation for writing the D.Min. project.

En 730 Dissertation Project

four hours

Directed research designed to aid the student in the completion of the dissertation project.

Hi 733 History of Fundamentalism

two hours

A history of the fundamentalist movement analyzing its historical roots, leading personalities, issues, battles, and present-day status.

Mi 713 Missions and the Church

two hours

A study of the relationship and responsibilities of the local church in regard to both home and foreign missions, including philosophy, strategy, and promotion of missions, selection, care, and support of missionaries.

Pr 773 Advanced Sermonic Structures

three hours

An advanced study of sermon structure and development with an emphasis on adapting sermon structures to the biblical text, and the development of variety in outlining and delivery methods. This course will explore declarative, narrative, inductive, deductive, and other sermonic structures. The course is designed to allow pastors to add new and fresh outlining and application methods to their preaching repertoire.

Pr 783 Ministry Management

two hours

A doctoral study in the methods of managing a growing staff and coordinating expanding programs in the local church. This course will look at the relationship of the church with the Christian day school and other ministries within the church.

Pr 884 Administrative Leadership

two hours

An examination of the root causes of explosive problems in ministry and an exploration of the biblical principles necessary to respond in a God honoring way. As such, the spiritual qualities (both personal and organizational) of godly leadership will be presented and contrasted to prevailing contemporary theories.

Ps 714 Methods of Counseling

two hours

A doctoral level overview of different counseling philosophies, techniques, and practical methods of Christian counseling.

Th 764 Contemporary Theological Issues

two hours

A doctoral level examination of the current religious scene in the light of Scripture to prevent the minister, his staff, and his congregation from being confused by the many current doctrinal trends.

Th 823 Baptist Polity

two hours

A doctoral level study of the principles and practices of a Baptist church, such as membership, officers, government, discipline, and ordinances.

Th 824 Christian Apologetics

two hours

A survey of several approaches to apologetics and instruction in the practice of apologetics, articulating the Christian replies to various challenges to the faith.

Th 844 Worship and the Church

two hours

The examination of a biblical and theological approach to contemporary worship from a conservative, baptistic perspective with attention given both to the theology of worship as articulated in the Old and New Testaments and to the implementation, evaluation, and analysis of biblical principles within the local church.
